What is Terragen?

Terragen is a 3D landscape generating and rendering program capable of producing nearly photorealistic images. It uses fractals and other mathematical procedures to create terrain altitude data, textures, clouds, waves, etc. In addition, it simulates the effect of atmosphere.

The examples in these pages were done with the old freeware vesion, Terragen v0.9. Since then, commercial versions (TG2 ... TG4) have been published, but there is also a free version for non-commercial use.
